For weeks during the Kashmir long, angry summer, was the largest mosque in the largest city, shut down by authorities. Dome chief priest, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, mixed his sermon with the policy. Kashmir's history is complicated. India and Pakistan have fought three wars over the territory since 1947, when the Muslim-dominated Kashmir became part of the mostly Hindu India Pakistan objections.
